Details
Grenache is just such a seductive grape, and this wine shows off its best side. Its a translucent ruby in glass, and that really sets the scene for the powerful spicy richness and warmth that you find in this wine. There's lots of raspberry, strawberry and milk chocolate in there, it's just above medium-bodied and finished with a kick of tannin.

Tash Mooney is a clever winemaker, using her considerable resources to craft wines from not only her vineyard in the Barossa, but also a few select parcels in the Adelaide Hills. All her wines exhibit freshness and vivacity, filled with bright fruit and clean acid. Her label 'The Thief?' honours her great-great-grandfather (Walter) who was an Australian settler in the 1840’s. Apparently Walter was asked by his neighbour to tend a pet cow while the neighbour was away for several months. Well, months turned into years and the cow died of old age. Guess what happened next? Yep, the neighbour returned and accused poor Walter of theft! Of course Walter refused to apologise or to admit any fault which he knew was not his. These wines honour his perseverance! A bit like the vineyard from which the fruit comes - a vineyard that has fought through heatwaves and drought of late, but is still producing wonderful fruit. This fruit makes wonderful wine, guided into bottle by Tash. Cheers Walter!

Pairing guide
GSM wines, such as this stunner from The Thief, have their origins on the Mediterranean coast of France, which is where we’d recommend looking for food pairing recommendations for this bottle. That means big hunks of roasted meat, slow cooked with mountains of sage, rosemary, olives, and thyme, anything featuring red capsicum peppers and eggplant, and roast chicken, wild mushrooms, and belly pork. You’ll get equally good results with moussaka, pizza, and hearty Italian pasta dishes, too!
