Details
This is a fruity rendition of the classic Cab/Merlot blend, with a touch of oak completing the picture. Soft and smooth, this is moderately full bodied and very elegant.

Found in almost all wine-producing countries of the world, Cab Sav is traditionally full-bodied, loaded with plenty of dark fruit (think blueberry and blackberry) and backed up by a zing of herbal/grassy kind of flavours. It’s also known for its strong backbone of tannin – that furry, drying sensation you sometimes get with red wines. Cabernet has plenty of it, but is still a smooth talker regardless. In these blends, Cabernet takes the lead, but is ably assisted by some or all of grapes like Merlot, Cabernet Franc, Malbec and friends. Cab makes friends easily…splash this around, and you will too.

Pairing guide
The combination of Cabernet Sauvignon and Merlot is always going to yield exciting results for those looking for top-notch food-friendly wines, and this example really hits the high notes. It goes without saying that this rich and unctuous vino is something of a meat lover’s wine (although it will pair very nicely with aubergines and grilled root veg), and you’ll get great results with beef, game, course ground sausages, and cheaper cuts of pork and veal. It’s a beautiful wine to have with your steak and frites, and it’s also going to go very nicely with bistro classics like cassoulet, too.
