Details
Yarra Valley Pinot Noir is a fickle beast, at times warm and chunky and cuddly, other times soft, suave and elegant. This is mostly down to the location of the vineyards, and that is an area where this wine shines. From the renowned Willowlake vineyard (cool and even ripening), this vintage of ArFion Pinot Noir is filled with delicate fruits, soft tannins and a long finish.

In the Yarra Valley, an at times cold and rather unforgiving corner of the country, we find ArFion - a small and independent winery which likes to do things their own way and relishes in the opportunity to take risks and see what comes out the other end. Their philosophy is to produce very small quantities of extremely high-quality wine, able to express a sense of time and place. This is all achievable thanks to the use of single sites, low intervention, and a careful selection of grapes from Yarra Valley’s best vineyards - the aim is to produce something delicious, fresh, and recognisably from this part of Australia. Winemaker Dave Mackintosh is committed to following his instincts and allows the fruit to do the work. This is a winery which, due to being only five years old, is constantly in a state of evolution - the more the Dave tinkers and experiments, the more their wines can develop and grow....but to be honest, they're in a pretty great place already, so the future is very bright.
