Details
This rich and chocolatey expression of a Syrah, Mouvedre and Grenache blend is a great example of a warm Minervois vintage! There's plenty of concentrated dark fruit, blackberry, roasted cherry and damson plum, which makes for a powerful first impression, but there's much more than fruit going on here. Dusted with flavours of cocoa powder, lavender and leather, this wine has a delicious earthy and rustic side to it, too. Fine-grained but firm tannins and a full body give this wine a confident posture upfront, but that eases off into a relaxed velvety chocolate finish.

Minervois is a region esteemed for its vineyard landscapes that are perched upon a breathtaking backdrop of southern French foothills. This exciting region also boasts a rich and remarkably deep wine history. Archaeological evidence shows that viticulture here dates back to early-Roman times. The Chateau de Paraza Estate is certainly no new kid on this vineyard block. In fact, while under Louis the XIVth (14th) Chateau de Paraza served as a base during part of the building of the canal that connects the Mediterranean sea to the Atlantic Ocean. If the walls of Chateau de Paraza could talk, we know there would be a bookcase worth of colourful wine stories to tell. Jump ahead to our modern century and you'll find the close-knit Danglas family — parents and three children, Lucile, Matthieu, and Antoine — doing all the hands-on work in the vineyard and winery. They have a clear winemaking philosophy; to honour the tradition of the estate with a keen eye on sustainable agriculture. The proof of success is in the glass. The wine of Chateau de Paraza speaks a voice true to their unique terroir and the estate's rich history.

Pairing guide
Blends like this one form Chateau de Paraza from the South of France are always great fun to pair with food. Those bold, scorched flavours and earthy tones mean it can stand up to a wide range of dishes, and especially with its peppery edge and leather-like character, it handles char and spice in ways other red wines struggle to. This means it's a real winner when it comes to hearty, full-flavoured meat dishes, as well as many grilled vegetable dishes too. Always popular as a pairing for meat - and lamb and beef in particular - it’s also absolutely delicious when matched with European stews such as Hungarian goulash, paprikash and casseroles such as the ever-popular French cassoulet. Balanced, quaffable and delicious, this wine is going to go down a storm at barbeques and sophisticated dinners alike!
