Details
Oscar Holyman has turned out a cracker of a wine for his first release. Hardly a surprise, given his winemaking lineage! Lovely Pinot Noir here, lots of red fruit up front, and filled in with plenty of detail on the expansive finish. Crushed rocks, dried sage, blood orange - there's plenty going on, and plenty to enjoy. Another glass? Yes Miss!

Stoney Rise is the name of the winery founded by Joe and Lou Holyman in 2004 in the Tamar Valley of northern Tasmania. Joe is a winemaker and his family have been involved in growing grapes and making wine in Tasmania since 1984. Lou cut her teeth working in vineyards and cellar doors across South Australia, before specialising in the behind the scenes work of running the business. Joe does the wine, Lou does the numbers! And now, they have a third string to their bow - son Oscar, who is the architect behind this wine. Only 16 when COVID-enforced lockdowns made home schooling a thing, he made wine with dad whilst mum became teacher for a few months. "Yes Miss" became the catch-call as Oscar poked fun at his mum.

Pairing guide
Versatile, elegant and oh-so delicious, this wonderful Pinot Noir from Yes Miss is the food-friendly red that’s sure to tie your celebration dinner together in style. It’s going to pair well with pretty much any dish of roast ham, leg of lamb, whole roast poultry and Christmas vegetables and sides imaginable, as well as with more creative festive dishes like chicken and fig wellington, fruit and nut roast, or Asian-style sticky gammon and crispy duck pancakes. Stews, casseroles and braises are never a bad idea with a Pinot Noir, and it’s even good dishes making the most of leftovers, like a turkey tikka masala or cold cuts of roast ham with mustard and pickles.
