Details
Made from Nero d'Avola grapes picked from one of the Vasarelli family's plots on the Fleurieu Peninsula, this rosé is built in the Italian rosato style, which means it is a little darker, but also savoury rather than sweet and almost custom-made for pizza. Red and blackberry is the flavour here, with a little of the red jelly babies that Nero is famous for.
Wines by Nick and Goe is the work of sales guru Nick Whiteway and renowned McLaren Vale winemaker Goe DiFabio, drawing on grapes from across South Australia, with a big emphasis on some of the lesser-known plots and regions (like Currency Creek) that the pair are proud to be associated with. The pair love Italian grapes, and this project features a collection of Aussie wines with an Italian accent. Goe, naturally of Italian descent, and Nick (who secretly wishes he had a Nonna) make wines the way they’d serve them at a family table. Think: sun-kissed San Marzano tomatoes, hand-torn basil, shards of Parmigiano Reggiano, and fresh pasta coated in Nonna’s secret sauce. As Nick says, 'life moves fast, but sometimes it’s important to stop and smell the wine'.

Pairing guide
Pizza. That's the main game with this Italian-leaning style of Aussie rosé, with that savoury berry mode and the extra fruity width giving this a glorious edge with your favourite pizza. Red sauce pasta is also a champion here, and no need for meat - chicken, mushroom, olive or zucchini pasta dishes really come into their own, and you really can't go wrong. Just give it a really good chill and definitely start off with a full antipasto as well (because you deserve it).

Wine region

Fleurieu Peninsula, Australia
The Fleurieu Peninsula wine region is located in South Australia. The region is known for its relatively cool climate wines (compared to other parts of South Australia), Shiraz, Cabernet Sauvignon, and Chardonnay do particularly well in these parts. The area has a long history of winemaking, with the first vines being planted in the 1850s. Today, the region is home to a number of small, family-owned wineries that produce high-quality wines using traditional winemaking techniques. The cool climate and mineral-rich soils of the region give the wines their distinctive character and flavour. Perhaps the most famous of all of the Fleurieu Peninsula's sub-regions is McLaren Vale in the northwest, home to some of the finest red wines in Australia.
