Details
This Wine Knot drop champions that rustic earthy spice we just love from Barossa Grenache especially when blended with partners Shiraz and Mataro. Having had some time to cellar this wine shows some developing fruit character and leathery flavours. Medium-bodied, dusty tannins and as savoury round mouthfeel packed with dried black cherry, raspberry and array of your favourite baking spices.
Origin: Southern Rhone, France. Mainly Grown In: France, Australia, USA. Key Facts: GSM could stand for a lot of things — trust us we checked urban dictionary — but when it comes to the vocabulary of wine lovers like yourself, it only means one thing: Grenache, Syrah, Mourvèdre. It's a blend of three grapes that have a long history of getting together and bringing their own unique grape traits to the party — like old school mates. Grenache is known to contribute loads of spice and candied red fruit flavours. Syrah brings structure and dark fruit flavours, and Mourvèdre finishes the blend with an earthy, sometimes meaty character and tannin. The final wine is a balance of the best parts of all three, which usually means it's medium-bodied, deliciously thirst-quenching and spice, with no shortage of charm. Fun Fact: A Pope (Clemens V in case you're the curious type) loved this blend so much that the most iconic GSM making region is called Châteauneuf-du-Pape, which means "The Popes New Castle". You better believe there was a lot of GSM flowing here.

Pairing guide
Spicy GSM's like this one are some of our favourite wine styles for pairing with food. Why? They’ve got that lovely juicy character from the Grenache, and loads of rustic, rough-around-the-edges notes that make them ideal for the big, hearty dinners and unpretentious home cooking that we love to eat. This wine will pair superbly with sausages, burgers and lots of barbeque favourites, but it’s probably best with roast dinners - roast chicken, duck, pork and turkey are all going to be great here (it’s even better with the leftovers and cold meats the following day!), and if you fancy being a bit posh it would also be damn good with game birds and other wild meats, too. If you don’t fancy meat, have it with a margherita pizza, or a pasta arrabiata - it’s a truly versatile wine which is going to slip down well with almost any dinner!
