Details
Very pale in the glass, this evokes spring by the beach with its appearance as well as its succulence. Tangy and dry, this Grenache rosé leads with plenty of rhubarb - sour and fresh - and then into pomegranate and cherry. There's flickers of spice - white pepper and cinnamon, before the refreshing acidity takes over. Very good and very nice to drink!
Willunga 100 are Grenache specialists in McLaren Vale, focussing their entire attention on the beauty and potential of this noble grape. Each year they release at least 5 different Grenaches, from various vineyard sites and with different characteristics amplified. Such passion and dedication is admirable, and exciting. It allows to see the true potential of a grape, that for years has been treated as a lesser cousin of Shiraz, when in reality it is anything but. Their vineyards are based around the subregions of Clarendon and Blewitt Springs Vineyards, with various altitudes and aspects. The winemaking team, now headed by young gun Skye Salter, are obsessed with producing wines that have a focus on aromatic brightness and purity of fruit. To this end, they use less oak than many of their neighbouring counterparts, and the wines are fresher and zestier for it!

Pairing guide
Sourcing their delicious and expressive Grenache grapes from McLaren Vale, Willunga 100 has produced a rosé which speaks volumes about the quality of the fruit in each and every bottle. This rosé wine is a great pairing for dishes of juicy chicken thigh, and will work fantastically with a fish saltimbocca, belly pork, seared lamb, and duck. It’s also a top choice for puttanesca and other pasta dishes involving tomato, olives, and salty ingredients like anchovies. Gorgeous with barbecued meats, ideal with soft cheeses, and irresistible alongside a pasta bake, it’s a real all-rounder with mountains of charm.
