Details
A light, fresh wine, made exclusively from Chardonnay. The grapes lends its characteristic lemon and peach flavours to the wine, with a hint of nougat and almond as well. The acidity is zesty and the wine is pleasantly refreshing. A no-nonsense fizz for any occasion.
Origin: Australian Sparkling comes from… Australia. Don’t say we never teach you anything. Mainly Grown In: Often found in Victoria, New South Wales, the ACT, South Australia, Western Australia, Tasmania... sometimes even Queensland. But never NT. Sorry. Key Facts: Australia has been making sparkling wine since the late 1800s, and some of the first bottles to be produced were actually sparkling red, a style that has stuck with us until today! In the mid 50s the production of the sparkling wines we know today really took off, and the market for it increased – in other words, people got to drinking! The style has been refined over the decades, and now Australia makes world-class sparkling wines, traditionally based on Chardonnay and Pinot Noir. The style is dry, with flavours of baked bread and green apple, with really lovely, juicy acidity. Great stuff. Fun Fact: Australia makes sparkling wine in many different guises - dry, sweet, rosé, sparkling red, moscato, even cloudy pet-nats! Gotta catch 'em all!

Pairing guide
Australian sparkling wine is one of the great food pairing wines of the world, matching as it does with a massively wide range of dishes, flavours and ingredients. It goes brilliantly with fried foods, the acidity and effervescence cutting through the fat like a cold knife, and it also pairs up brilliantly with tricky wine-matching foods like salads, curries, and canapes. So, whether you pour yourself a long glass of this fizz to have with your fish and chips in front of the TV, or serve it to your garden party guests, it’s a fantastic, flexible example of great Aussie produce.
