Details
Alsatian Riesling hits a lot differently to German and Australian Riesling, aside from the fact that they come from different countries. The Weisskeller Riesling has notes of crushed pineapple, chamomile and citrus with an expressive palate which finishes in a rush with vibrant acidity.

The French wine scene can be somewhat of a minefield at times, all we really want is a supplier that makes wines from all across the country while still displaying regional and sub-regional typicity.. Simple right?!? Well, enter Maison Johanès Boubée which is a winery that has succeeded in the French landscape, while relatively unknown outside its borders. The winery has access to all the goodies around the country and aside from an impressive winemaking team, it also has employed sommeliers to taste each wine to confirm it meets that all important terroir feel of each region. The winery is a nod to the old-school way, where you didn’t need to boast a fancy label to sell a bottle of wine and the juice inside is the most important part. We have tasted through a large range of their wines and are very impressed with the overall quality in each bottle. Weisskeller represents the Alsatian wines with a lovely representation of Riesling and Gewürztraminer.

Pairing guide
When it comes to food-friendly wines, dry Riesling is about as safe a bet as they come. This gorgeous example from Weisskeller is no exception, and the burst of freshness and minerality this wine provides makes it an ideal match for a massive range of dishes. We love this wine alongside fresh, crisp salads, but it will also work a treat served with smoked meats, shellfish like lobster, scallops, or crab, and all kinds of lighter chicken and pork dishes, too. Be creative, be bold, and have fun… you really can’t go wrong with this bottle!

Wine region
Alsace, France
The Alsace wine region is located in northeast France and is known for producing high-quality white wines from aromatic grape varieties (also known as the 'noble' varieties). The region has a cool climate, which allows the grapes to retain their acidity and produce bright, fresh flavours and aromas. Alsace is divided into four main wine-producing areas and is known for its "terroir-driven" wines, which means that the character of the wine is strongly influenced by the specific vineyard where the grapes are grown. The region also produces small quantities of red and rosé wines and sparkling wines made using the traditional Champagne method. The four noble white varieties are; Riesling, Gewürztraminer, Pinot Gris and Muscat.
