Details
Welcome to the home of Gewürztraminer, where aromatics and texture are the focus. This is a true example of Alsatian Gewürztraminer with a complex bouquet of rose petals, Turkish delight and guava. The palate has an array of fruit and spice melding together with a touch of sweetness and plenty of texture.
The French wine scene can be somewhat of a minefield at times, all we really want is a supplier that makes wines from all across the country while still displaying regional and sub-regional typicity.. Simple right?!? Well, enter Maison Johanès Boubée which is a winery that has succeeded in the French landscape, while relatively unknown outside its borders. The winery has access to all the goodies around the country and aside from an impressive winemaking team, it also has employed sommeliers to taste each wine to confirm it meets that all important terroir feel of each region. The winery is a nod to the old-school way, where you didn’t need to boast a fancy label to sell a bottle of wine and the juice inside is the most important part. We have tasted through a large range of their wines and are very impressed with the overall quality in each bottle. Weisskeller represents the Alsatian wines with a lovely representation of Riesling and Gewürztraminer.

Pairing guide
Most of you know by now we’re huge fans of European, textural white wine styles grown right here down under, and this stunning Gewürztraminer is a fabulous example of the kind of vino that gets us really excited! Paired with spicy Thai dishes, fiery noodles with white meat, crispy tofu or aromatic fried rice recipes, this wine really comes into its own. It’s also excellent with sweet and sour chicken, richer seafood dishes, pork chops with apple and potato salad and chicken kiev, and you’ll even get great results matching this wine with a selection of your most pungent cheeses. Nice!

Wine region

Alsace, France
The Alsace wine region is located in northeast France and is known for producing high-quality white wines from aromatic grape varieties (also known as the 'noble' varieties). The region has a cool climate, which allows the grapes to retain their acidity and produce bright, fresh flavours and aromas. Alsace is divided into four main wine-producing areas and is known for its "terroir-driven" wines, which means that the character of the wine is strongly influenced by the specific vineyard where the grapes are grown. The region also produces small quantities of red and rosé wines and sparkling wines made using the traditional Champagne method. The four noble white varieties are; Riesling, Gewürztraminer, Pinot Gris and Muscat.
