Details
A wildly drinkable rosé made from southern French variety Mourvedre (aka Mataro!), known for its power and savouriness. Dry and a touch salty, with refreshing flavours of grapefruit, orange peel and white peach, it has grip & confidence. A wine you won't come across often, so when you do, you've got to ride it!
While the family vineyards date back to 1980, Hither & Yon’s journey began in 2012 in the capable hands of the Leask brothers. Richard is the outside man, the farmer and maker; Malcolm is the inside guy, director and creator. The aim is to make better wines with a lighter footprint. To do this, Hither & Yon apply regenerative agricultural methods that’d make Costas of Gardening Australia proud. Practices include and are not limited to increased plant diversity between rows, the use of beneficial fungi brews, and planned rotational cattle grazing. The result is improved soil structure for more carbon capture and increased water retention; this all translates to superb fruit for magnificent wines, and not to mention some very happy sheep and cattle. We could go on about Richard and Malcolm’s miracle work, but being certified sustainable and carbon neutral speaks for itself. Let’s close in their own words, ‘We make wines that are good for the environment and feel great to drink!’ Cheers to that!

Pairing guide
Made from deliciously ripened Aglianico grapes, this characterful rosé is a fantastic bottle to bring out alongside some seriously tasty food. It’s particularly good with Sicilian-style pasta and orzo dishes, gnocchi in a rich tomato sauce or fillets of white fish or salmon cooked simply with some lemon and fresh herbs. Salty cheeses will work well, and it’s also excellent with spicy Southeast Asian cuisine like pad Thai, jungle curry and Manchurian cauliflower. Medium Indian curries will be great, as will veggie burgers, stuffed red capsicum and fresh tomato salads.
