Details
Vineyard 28 has not made a run-of-the-mill Moscato; they have produced a stunning sweet ol’ thing that brings you right into the Moscato heartland, Asti. The wine has a lovely balance of peach and apricot with floral lift and a rosy complexion. Have this to get the palate going at the start of a meal or just enjoy it with some fresh fruit.
Vineyard 28 is located on the drive from Perth to Margaret River, along the Forest Highway, which makes it a perfect stop to whet the appetite for those making the trek down. Here you will find a delightful cellar door attached to the winery and family home where Mark and Pippa ply their craft. The vineyard gets its name from the name of one of several parrots that call their property home, the 28 Parrot or for those budding bird watchers in the crowd, the Port Lincoln Parrot. Aside from the 28 parrots, a host of cockatoos and plenty of other native wildlife, you will find an abundance of Italian varieties that have made this vineyard home. Mark and Pippa have a passion for Piedmont varieties, so you will find Arneis, Barbera, Dolcetto, Moscato and Nebbiolo here alongside a smattering of other varieties. To add to the wholesome factor, Pippa is a crafty quiltmaker and sells local artwork on the property.

Pairing guide
We love Moscato. You love Moscato. It’s been a phenomenal decade for this wine style, especially here in Australia, and we’re always delighted to present a new discovery for your pleasure. This gorgeous bottle from Vineyard 28 is a stunning food-pairing wine, and will work brilliantly with all kinds of charcuterie dishes, salty fish cakes and sweet and sour dishes of all kinds. It’s great with sticky chicken noodles, glazed ribs and Thai curries, and will also work well with berry-based desserts, couscous with pomegranate, and pulled pork sandwiches. Wonderful!

Wine region

Geographe, Australia
Geographe is a wine region located in the South West region of Western Australia (40 minute’s drive Northeast of Margaret River). It has a Mediterranean-style climate with warm, dry summers and mild, winters, which is ideal for growing grapes. The soils are predominantly sandy loams, providing good drainage and nutrient levels for the vines, and some vineyards have access to the permanent water table 15m below.
It is known for producing high quality Cabernet Sauvignon, Sauvignon Blanc, Semillon and Shiraz. Compared to nearby Margaret River, Cabernet Sauvignon from Geographe tends to have distinctly fine gain and lingering tannins. The region has seen a rapid growth of boutique producers in recent years, aided by its proximity to Geographe Bay, which is home to a world-class food and wine scene, but attractions like Busselton Jetty, Cape Naturaliste Lighthouse and gorgeous seascape panoramas.
