Details
Sparkling Gamay rosé... not your usual bottle of fizz, but we sure could get used to this. A delicate nose of rose hip and pomegranate, with some raspberry and wild strawberry. Lightly floral, bone dry and very fresh, this is real warm-weather fizz.
It’s all too easy to think of Burgundy and Beaujolais wines as those steeped in unwavering traditions, trapped in the past, and made primarily for the stuffier, more pretentious side of the wine spectrum. However, every now and again we discover a winery like Vin de Broyer, whose winemakers delight in innovation and experimentation, maintaining the standards of the region while also blazing new trails for others to follow. Headed by Pierre Coquard and assisted by his extended family, Vin de Broyer was launched in 2003 on a historic site. Before long, the winery was gaining a powerful reputation for launching stunning wines which hinted at a more modern, playful approach to the region’s produce. From top-notch table wines to a now-iconic sparkling rose, Coquard and his kin have been utilising eco-friendly approaches to produce wine which sees tradition as a starting point; a reference from which to grow, evolve, and delight their ever-expanding clientele.

Pairing guide
This unique sparkling wine, made at the masterful Vin de Broyer winery, makes fantastic use of the local Gamay grapes. The result is spectacular, and this elegant bottle of bubbly is superb for beautiful light lunches and al fresco dining. We love pairing it with pies, quiches, terrines, charcuterie and an array of flavourful cheeses, and it’s also going to be fabulous with homemade pates, rillettes, and smoked salmon appetisers. It’s also going to be a winner with barbecued sausages!

Wine region

Beaujolais, France
Beaujolais is the land of fruity, easy-drinking reds! This wine region in France is known for its light-bodied, juicy Gamay wines that taste of cherries, red berries, and sometimes even bubblegum. With ten different Beaujolais crus to choose from, there's a wine for every taste. But the real party happens when Beaujolais Nouveau is released each November. This wine is made from freshly harvested grapes and is ready to drink just a few weeks later. So grab a bottle (or two) and let the celebrations begin! However, Beaujolais is also a hotbed for the natural wine movement and some of the industry's most pioneering names have come from this region and produce some exciting, complex wines.
