Details
Violet in the glass and in the aromatic profile! Also plenty of blackberries and plums with the classic Cabernet Franc herbaceous note in addition to aromas of cedar and peppercorn. The palate is medium-bodied, with dusty tannins and is a bit shy initially, but comes around with a bit of air to show plushness and spicy notes. Excellent.
Lukas Van Loggerenberg is, without doubt, one of the hottest names in South African wine. Despite growing up around wine – in the Breedekloof Valley – and studying viticulture and oenology at Elsenburg, he nearly became a doctor! The defining moment in his wine journey occurred in France, where at Domaine de La Chevalerie in the Loire Valley, winemaker Stephanie Caslot opened a 1989 Cabernet Franc that took his breath away. Right there Lukas decided to start his own wine label! Lucky for us he did. Van Loggerenberg is only on his 4th vintage, but already his name is being mentioned across the globe. His wines are produced using fruits from some of the best vineyards in the Cape, farmed by talented and passionate farmers. The Loire Valley still shines bright in his wines, with fresh acidity and purity a hallmark of the range. All the wines are made without added yeast or acid, and express pure fruit and wonderful texture as naturally as possible. We're thrilled to be able to bring Lukas' wines to Australia - we are confident in the not too distant future he'll be regarded as one of South Africa's most important winemakers.

Pairing guide
Deeply satisfying and with a bold and rounded character, this Cabernet Franc is fantastic for pairing for punchy savoury dishes and bistro classics. You’ll love it alongside a rustic ratatouille, smoky eggplant and barbecue sauces, steaks chargrilled with garlic and peppercorns, and anything heavy with green capsicum. It’s also great with black lentils, charcuterie, sausages, lamb shanks and other heartier cuts of red meat.

Wine region

Stellenbosch, South Africa
Stellenbosch is one of South Africa’s premier wine regions, located in the Western Cape, outside Cape Town. In South Africa, wine regions are known as winelands. Stellenbosch means ‘town of oaks’ and its winemaking dates back to the 17th century. The mountainous terrain, good rainfall, deep well-drained soils and diversity of terroirs make this a sought-after viticultural area. The wineland itself is known for high quality Cabernet Sauvignon, Chenin Blanc, Chardonnay as well as the local speciality, Pinotage.
