Details
We're in the company of a wine show hero here - this Prosecco won the trophy for Best Sparkling Wine at the Australian Italian Wine Varieties Wine Show not long ago, just in case we needed validation for the deliciousness. A classic local Prosecco, this smells of white flowers and tastes of green apples and a little white pear, with a style that is light, frisky and awfully fun.
Nestled in a landscape of rolling hills and rich soils, the King Valley is a bit of a NE Victorian showstopper (seriously, go there and see for yourself. You won't be disappointed) and the perfect place to grow world-class grapes. The Valle del Re range is a massive high-five to this stunning region and the passionate growers and winemakers who make the magic happen. The name literally translates to 'Valley of the King' in Italian, paying proper tribute to the area's storied Italian family history. Made by the team at Gapsted Wines in the nearby town of Myrtleford, the Valle Del Re range is normally strictly for restaurants and hotels, but we've snaffled some for GPD as well. Who can blame us when you can get some brilliant expression of Italian varieties sourced from the very best vineyards the King Valley has to offer, with a real high-country feel in every bottle.

Pairing guide
No party is complete without a smashable bottle of bubbly, and this trophy-winning number from Valle Del Re is here to get the job done in style. It is the ultimate elegant sparkler for a beach barbie, playing perfectly with everything from garlic-and-lemon prawns to grilled snapper, chicken kebabs, or even a fancy bit of lobster. If you are feeling a little gourmet, it is a total dream with salty charcuterie and orchard fruits, and it absolutely sings alongside desserts packed with peaches, apricots, and candied nuts. Whether you are celebrating a big win or just the fact that it is Friday, this Prosecco is a certified crowd-pleaser that turns any gathering into a proper event.
