This classic, modern, dark-fruited Tempranillo is powerful and rich. Plenty of rich black plum and prune, complemented by chocolate and leather. Soft texture but dense and filled with flavour.

Making wine isn’t necessarily hard. All you really need are some grapes, some of the right equipment, and enough time on your hands to do the job. Establishing a real connection between the soil, the vines, and the winemaker, though? That’s the kind of thing that doesn’t come overnight, but that’s where the real magic starts to happen. Bodegas y Vinedos Valderiz was based entirely on that concept: bridging the gap between the land and the bottle, and making the kinds of wines which tell a story about their terroir. In doing so, this unique Ribera del Duero winery has managed to build something of a cult following both at home and overseas, and continues to build on the strength and unique character of their stunning vintages. Unlike many Ribera del Duero wines (indeed, many Spanish wines), the bottles which come out of Bodegas y Vinedos Valderiz are all about the fruit. No messing about, no barrel aging, no oaking whatsoever - this is a chance to experience the natural wonder of fermented grapes, and revel in their uninterrupted flavours and aromas. Thanks to their incredible terroir, and the dedication of the Bodegas’ winemakers, this is a Spanish winery both ripping up the rulebook and making unforgettable wines in the process.

Pairing guide
This gorgeous Tempranillo boasts all of the features we love so much about this fantastically flavourful grape varietal. As such, it’s a wine which deserves to be paired with tasty, hearty, rustic dishes, exploding with all the flavours of the Mediterranean. Tempranillo wines love being match with smoky meats, so don’t hesitate to crack this bottle open at your next barbecue. Alternatively, you could pair it with tomato-based stews, lasagna, even pizza topped with your favourite salami or pepperoni. Mexican dishes, too, tend to be a great pairing for this wine style, and you’ll also get top results with corn dishes (so don’t forget the tortilla chips!).
