Details
The Three Elms Cabernet Franc is a classic example with blackcurrant, capsicum and smoky notes all evident on first sip. There are Ribena notes along with blackberries as well as a touch of blueberry, before some leafy grip that lingers on the palate.
Three Elms is based in the picturesque region of Frankland River, which is part of the broad expanse of a region that is the Great Southern. Frankland River has a history based on Riesling and Shiraz, however this is growing to include a delightful mix of varieties across the spectrum. Laura and Tim Penniment are the wife and husband duo behind the label, whose experience working in wine regions from Alsace and Paarl, South Africa have evolved into producing wines from these two regions. The ‘Timbertops’ range is obvious in name for any traveller who has ventured through the Great Southern, where the landscape is taken up by skyscrapers made of blackbutt, karri and jarrah. With their background in the previously mentioned international regions, you’ll find Gewürztraminer and Cabernet Franc as well as Tempranillo thrown into the fray aside from the classic Riesling and Shiraz affair.

Great Southern, Australia
Get ready to swirl, sniff, and sip your way through Western Australia's largest wine region - the Great Southern! Stretching from the coastal town of Albany to the scenic hamlet of Denmark to the south, this vast region is known for its world-class wine. Within the Great Southern, you will find five sub-regions, with Frankland River and Mount Barker being arguably the most noteworthy. But the Great Southern isn't just about the grapes - the area's family-owned wineries are passionate about their craft, using traditional techniques and the region's mineral-rich soils to create wine bursting with flavour. It is hard to pigeonhole the region in terms of grape varieties, Riesling does particularly well here as does Pinot Noir and Shiraz amongst others. So grab your corkscrew and get ready to explore the Great Southern - the ultimate destination for wine lovers!
