Details
Where to begin? This skin-contact Semillon is fantastic, with beautiful top notes of chalk and grass that combine with earthy notes, orange peel and stone fruit. This is waxy and grippy, with ginger, orange blossom and a lively vibrancy on the palate that refreshes and invigorates. Complex and delicious.

We are over the moon to welcome the Vineyard Party's wines into the GPD fold. The talented Jolette Steyn has only just begun with this brand, launching in 2021 with her first vintage, but she has cut her teeth at a number of renowned producers, completing over fifteen harvests across four continents. The South African wine scene continues to impress with its progressiveness and exciting generation of vigneron, and you'd be silly not to count Jolette in that group of exciting individuals. She has hit the ground running in the wine game and has been met with rapturous applause for her two, maiden Semillon wines - on being a skin contact style - these are really quite stunning. Cool, artistic labels and a low-intervention approach to winemaking make The Vineyard Party's wines some of the most exciting we have tasted for some time!

Pairing guide
With each new discovery, we fall deeper and deeper in love with orange wines. This release from Vineyard Party is right up there with our all-time favourite bottles in the skin-contact style, and it offers fantastic food pairing opportunities with a wide array of ingredients. We particularly enjoyed this wine with coconut fried rice and other southeast Asian-inflected recipes, and it’s going to work really well with Middle Eastern salads featuring couscous and other grains, pomegranate, preserved lemon and olives, too. Grilled chicken skewers, jerk salmon, seared seafood and turkey tagine will all work brilliantly, as will homemade falafel, walnut and garlic combos and satay sauces. Yum!

Wine region
Stellenbosch, South Africa
Stellenbosch is one of South Africa’s premier wine regions, located in the Western Cape, outside Cape Town. In South Africa, wine regions are known as winelands. Stellenbosch means ‘town of oaks’ and its winemaking dates back to the 17th century. The mountainous terrain, good rainfall, deep well-drained soils and diversity of terroirs make this a sought-after viticultural area. The wineland itself is known for high quality Cabernet Sauvignon, Chenin Blanc, Chardonnay as well as the local speciality, Pinotage.
