Details
Pale straw in the glass, this Sauvignon Blanc skips the tropical fruit bomb you might expect for something more delicate. First sniff brings guava and star fruit, hiding shyly behind lemon zest, fennel and white flowers. On the palate it has real texture, with a gentle saline note running under the citrus, and the finish is long and mineral.
Alex Schulkin started The Other Right in 2012, bringing almost two decades of wine science experience and a stubborn belief that there's more than one way to make a beautiful wine. The name says it all: an alternative to the idea that only one method counts. From a small base in Ashton, tucked into the Adelaide Hills, Alex has spent over a decade proving his point, one small-batch release at a time. Since 2016, every wine has come from vineyards farmed organically and sustainably, long-term partners who share his outlook on how a vineyard should be treated. In the winery, the philosophy is grapes and nothing else, with each wine left to develop at its own pace. That demands real skill: reading a ferment carefully, solving problems as they come up rather than reaching for a fix in a bottle. The payoff is wine that feels alive: precise, pure and full of character. Alex talks about his wines as living things, untamed and happy, shaped as much by his own instincts as by the vineyard they came from.

Pairing guide
This wine wants fresh, herby seafood and light preparations. Think grilled king prawns with a squeeze of lemon, a plate of natural oysters, or pan-fried whiting with capers and brown butter. The saline note loves anything straight from the ocean, while the fennel and citrus notes match beautifully with dishes built around fresh herbs like dill, parsley or tarragon. It's equally at home with a casual share plate of marinated feta, olives and crusty bread on a warm evening, or dressed up alongside a whole baked snapper with salsa verde for a proper dinner party moment. Keep the flavours light and let the wine do some of the work.

Wine region

Adelaide Hills, Australia
The Adelaide Hills wine region, located in South Australia's Mount Lofty Ranges
of South Australia is characterised by its high altitude, cool climate, and diverse soils, which all contribute to the unique terroir that produces elegant, complex, and expressive wines. The region's altitude ranges from 400 to 700 meters above sea level, creating a cooler climate than other wine regions in South Australia. The cool temperatures slow down the ripening process of the grapes, resulting in wines with high acidity, delicate aromatics, and elegant flavours. Top sub-regions are Lenswood, Piccadilly Valley, and Basket Range, each with unique microclimates and diverse soil types that produce singular wine styles, the highlights are Sauvignon Blanc, Chardonnay, Pinot Noir, Shiraz and a whole lot more!
