Details
This vintage of the Hedonist Shiraz is a classic - dark, chocolatey and very rich - really deep and satisfying. The commitment to biodynamic viticulture ensures that only premium fruit is harvested to make these wines, and it shows - a really satisfying, dense glass of Shiraz.

An iconic South Australian winemaking family! Walter Clappis has (almost) made more wines than we’ve drunk….and that is saying something. He is but one of a dynamic trio however – the winemaking team consists of Walter (a veteran winemaker of 33 vintages), his daughter, Kimberly and her partner James Cooter. Their combined experience and wisdom have created the perfect balance in the winery. They adopt a minimalistic approach to winemaking, believing that good wines are “made in the vineyard”. The emphasis of biodynamics is about promoting soil health and maintaining a balanced and diverse population of soil biology. In keeping with their holistic philosophies, the vineyard is managed with the absence of pesticides and herbicides. This means a clean bill of health for the soil in which the vines grow, and healthier grapes because of it. The wines have a natural freshness - the acidity is pure and the fruit really sings. Their part of McLaren Vale is a warm one, and produces wines of intensity, so this approach to their viticulture is vital for maintaining balance in the wines. Their skill, experience and passion combine to great effect, and ensure their wines are always on song. Pairing guide
What Aussie wine lover could resist the charms of this gorgeous Shiraz? As with all great Shiraz wines, this number from Hedonist is pretty much unbeatable when it comes to your barbecue favourites (especially homemade burgers, quality sausages, and ribs), and it’s also going to pair really nicely with bean dishes, grilled eggplant, teriyaki vegetables, and stuffed mushrooms. Looking for something a little more wintry? A rich meat stew made from cheaper cuts is sure to be a real winner.
