Details
Sublime Sauvignon Blanc from team Terre à Terre, the Down to Earth cuvée is a world away from Marlborough and the like; it’s more about citrus peel and chalkiness than overt passionfruit, with a little nutty creaminess and an appealing salty, minerally savouriness that invites a morsel of crumbed, fried food. It’s textural and serious, but also very down-to-earth!

Xavier Bizot and Lucy Croser both grew up surrounded by passionate winemaking families; Xavier’s father Christian was head of the Bollinger Champagne house, and Lucy’s father Brian is one of the most influential, pioneering figures in Australian wine, founder of Petaluma and Tapanappa wines. Xavier and Lucy planted their first vineyard in 2004 in Wrattonbully, South Australia, baptising it the Crayères Vineyard after the chalk cellars that are found throughout Xavier’s birthplace of Champagne. From the beginning, the vision for Terre à Terre (meaning Down to Earth) has been to grow the very best quality grapes from the same vineyard sites every year, and then vinify them using the best French and Australian wine practices.

Pairing guide
There's nothing quite like a delicious and chilled bottle of Sauvignon Blanc at lunch time, and we just know you're going to love pairing this crisp white with some of your favourite dishes. It has a particular affinity for green vegetables like asparagus, snow peas and artichoke, and will pair brilliantly with salads featuring salty cheeses, goat's cheese, or green beans and leafy vegetables. White fish fillets, seafood and shellfish, and grilled chicken breast will all be brilliant with this wine, especially if spritzed with lemon and given a scattering of parsley, coriander, or dill.

Wine region
Wrattonbully, Australia
Wrattonbully lies between Padthaway and Coonawarra in the Terra Rossa-rich rolling hill country of South Australia’s Naracoorte Ranges. It is a temperate region that is especially well-suited to the production of high-quality red wines, and is slightly warmer than neighbouring Coonawarra yet cooler than the Padthaway wine region to the north. For more than 25 million years, Wrattonbully and the Limestone Coast region lay hidden beneath the sea. When the ocean began to recede approximately one million years ago, 14 stranded coastlines or ranges became visible between the Naracoorte range and the current shoreline, and now limestone Caves are a feature of the area, with the region home to the World Heritage-Listed Naracoorte Caves. Many new caves were discovered during vineyard development, and some contain significant ancient fossils and prehistoric remains.
