Details
There isn't much genuine Australian Albariño, which is a shame as the best wines are absolute superstars! This white is the first ever crop of Albariño that Ashley has harvested from his own vines, and it shows so much promise for the future, with its juicy Nashi pear fruit and crisp, tangy finish. So very very refreshing!

Good things come to those who wait, and Ashley and Holly Ratcliff, the couple behind Ricca Terra, have definitely spent some time creating their own wines. During decades of work in the Industry, Ashley picked up the Best Viticulturist award one year. So basically, if you’re a grape in Australia, you want to be grown by Ashley. With an eye for sustainability, the couple has planted and purchased in Barmera, South Australia. The Riverland gets lots of sun but not much rain; many of the vineyards are irrigated heavily. With pressure on Australia's water supply, they have identified grapes that work best in warmer Mediterranean climates that demand less water. Terra do Rio—meaning Land of River—this exclusive range is from Ricca Terra's estate-grown vineyard located in the Riverland, South Australia. This specialist vineyard is dedicated to the exploration of Portuguese grape varieties. It uses sustainable practices and is also hand-pruned, hand-harvested, handmade, and vegan-friendly.

Pairing guide
We’re huge fans of Albariño wines here at Good Pair Days, and we can’t help but get excited whenever we discover a new bottle to share with you all. For us, this Spanish white wine style is one of the ultimate fish and seafood pairing wines - it’s excellent with all your favourite prawn or clam recipes, delicious with white fish, mackerel and barra alike, and will also work really well with sea vegetables and seaweed dishes. Sushi, Thai rice or noodle specialties, green capsicum and citrus chicken salads will also work brilliantly.

Wine region
Riverland, Australia
Located in the heart of South Australia, the Riverland wine region is a tropical paradise for wine lovers. The region was formerly known for its traditional wines, particularly Shiraz, Chardonnay, and Grenache as well as its abundance of sunshine and beautiful scenery. In the last few years it's added a raft of Mediterranean varieties to its charm - think Fiano and Nero d'Avola. The warm climate and fertile soils of the Riverland make it a perfect place for grape growing, and the wines produced there are bursting with flavour. So why not explore the wines of the Riverland and discover a new favourite?
