Details
When the sun is hiding behind thick clouds and your mood is heading down the hill, turn your frown upside down with some big, bold, beautiful Zinfandel from our friends at Terindah Estate. This wine will give you a warm glow on the inside, especially after a couple of glasses. This is not for the faint of heart with plenty of purple fruit, plush tannins and a finish that will have you thinking that you are quite alright with days like this.

Terindah Estate is one of the highlights of Geelong, a sprawling region that spreads from the Cattery to the Ottway hinterlands. The winery itself is located along the Bellarine Peninsula, in a trendy pocket of coastal towns where Melbournians flock to for their taste of salty air and scoops of Gelato, while meandering between boutique shops. The name Terindah is an Indonesian word that means ‘most beautiful’ and for those who have ventured to the winery, you can understand why, with breathtaking views of the Port Phillip Bay and backdrop of the Melbourne skyline. The standard affair of wines in this neck of the woods is Chardonnay, Pinot Noir and Shiraz, and each of these are produced exceptionally well by the Terindah team as still wines and the ‘get it while it’s hot’ Sparkling Blanc de Blancs. The exception to these classic wines is their estate grown Zinfandel, which is a risky proposition in these cool-climate parts, however they pass with flying colours.

Pairing guide
Zinfandel is one of the biggest wines out there and this rich, ripe red grapes are shown off to full effect in this gorgeously flavourful and characterful bottle from Terindah Estate. The obvious pairing for this Zinfandel are all meat-based; pork ribs, leg of lamb, and sausages are all a good call. However, if you want to think a bit outside the box, you’ll find that this wine also works really nicely with strong cheeses, Indian curries like Rogan Josh, Japanese curries (especially pork katsu), and veggie dishes featuring roasted tomatoes and red capsicum peppers.
