Details
First things first, this is a non-vintage blend of Vermentino from the team at Dettori and the approach is to produce something as uncomplicated as possible. The style is uncomplicated however the wine has plenty of complexity to it with a nutty and creamy texture that comes across in waves and a citrus seam through the wine that keeps you interested.

Tenute Dettori, located in the Romangia del Logudoro area in the extreme northwest corner of Sardinia, it’s family-owned, with a rich history dating back to the early 1900s. The estate is in the captivating region between Sassari and Castelsardo, known as the "golden place." The vineyards of Tenute Dettori are meticulously managed in the renowned "Badde Nigolosu" cru, a historic hinterland revered for the Cannonau grape. Rather than seeking DOC status, some of their wines opt for IGT status to allow them the flexibility to produce terroir-driven wines. That’s a win-win for consumers. On top of that, Dettori commits to minimal intervention, natural fermentations take place in concrete vats, and oak barrels are eschewed in favour of showcasing pure varietal character. The vineyards are biodynamic; also, vines are trained in the low-bush albarello (goblet) style to enhance ripening and retain moisture in this cool, dry climate. Vermentino, Moscato di Sorso-Sennori, and Cannonau, particularly the Retagliadu Nieddu ancient clone, are emblematic grape varieties of Romangia and form the foundation of Tenute Dettori's expressive wines. So if you’re after benchmarks of some of Italy’s lesser-known and most enchanting varieties, you’ve arrived.

Wine region
Sardinia, Italy
Sardinia is the second-largest island in the Mediterranean and is home to some distinctive wines. Sardinia is home to some of the oldest vineyards in Italy, with some vines dating back to 1200 BC. The region's ancient terroir is influenced by the island's granite soils, rugged terrain, and you guessed a Mediterranean climate. The top wine styles from Sardinia are made from the native grape varieties such as Cannonau, Vermentino, and Carignano, producing full-bodied red wines, crisp whites, and aromatic rosés. The top sub-regions include Cannonau di Sardegna and Vermentino di Gallura – again you can probably guess what they make at each place. Sardinia's wine industry is showing great promise as the region's unique terroir and native grape varieties are gaining recognition in the global market.
