Details
This is a modern Aussie twist on classic Sangiovese with plenty of typical spicy, cherry notes along with warming clove and then modernised from some whole bunch which gives this wine a juicy mid-palate and silky tannins. For those who love Sangiovese, this has your name written all over it.
South by South West is the story of Mij & Liv, both sharing a passion for wine and desire for adventure that kicked off with an ultimate wine trip across some of the most sought after wine regions across the globe. In 2016 they turned the pipedream into reality by starting the winery. With a vision for producing a nice balance of fun, contemporary winemaking with classic, traditional techniques. The result is a combination of classic wines like Margaret River Chardonnay balanced with bright and creative Swan Valley Grenache and Pemberton blends. The creative aspect and vision of South by SouthWest Wines is quite literally sourcing wines from across the mass of regions located below Perth in Western Australia. This gives the winery flexibility to produce the wines they want to produce and gives you the broader opportunity to venture into the amazing world of Western Australian wine regions.

Pairing guide
We’re huge fans of this stunning Sangiovese wine from South by South West, which showcases just how well the iconic Tuscan grape grows in our very own Margaret River. You’re always going to get good food pairing results by matching this wine with classic Italian fare - we loved it with mushroom and blue cheese tagliatelle, but pappardelle with game ragu, Tuscan bean stew, homemade lasagna and caponata dishes will also do the job nicely. It’s also great with roast lamb and poultry, and will also pair brilliantly with barbecue creations - especially your favourite beef or bean burger recipes.

Wine region

Geographe, Australia
Geographe is a wine region located in the South West region of Western Australia (40 minute’s drive Northeast of Margaret River). It has a Mediterranean-style climate with warm, dry summers and mild, winters, which is ideal for growing grapes. The soils are predominantly sandy loams, providing good drainage and nutrient levels for the vines, and some vineyards have access to the permanent water table 15m below.
It is known for producing high quality Cabernet Sauvignon, Sauvignon Blanc, Semillon and Shiraz. Compared to nearby Margaret River, Cabernet Sauvignon from Geographe tends to have distinctly fine gain and lingering tannins. The region has seen a rapid growth of boutique producers in recent years, aided by its proximity to Geographe Bay, which is home to a world-class food and wine scene, but attractions like Busselton Jetty, Cape Naturaliste Lighthouse and gorgeous seascape panoramas.
