Details
A complex rosé with plenty to offer the discerning drinker! Delicate notes of rose petal, fennel and strawberries on the nose. The palate is medium weight with exquisite texture and subtle tannins from barrel fermentation. The finish is soft and long with lingering acid drive. Delicious!

Solum Wines is a new star in the firmament, headed by Ryan Horaczko. Coming from time working at Principia with Darrin Gaffy on the Mornington Peninsula. Ryan was exposed to that region's premier Pinot Noir & Chardonnay fruit, and the chance to craft wines from it. He freely admits that the first vintage releases of Solum wouldn’t have been possible without Darrin's mentorship and tutelage. 2021 was the first harvest, albeit in the Pyrenees, from fruit grown by Quartz Hill. Organically managed, this thinking carries across the whole range now. Sustainability is at the core of all the choices made in the vineyard. The decisions Ryan makes in the vineyard are vital to enhance the quality of the wines once the fruit is off the vine and in the winery. Everything is handpicked and made without added yeast or tannin. These are fresh, supple wines, with plenty to recommend, and will only improve over time. We look forward to seeing what Ryan does next!

Pairing guide
This elegant yet juicy rosé calls for food that matches its coastal charm and quiet complexity. With its dry finish and hints of wild strawberries, pomegranate, and a whisper of spice from the Shiraz, it’s a dreamy partner for Mediterranean-style dishes. Think grilled halloumi with watermelon and mint, a Niçoise salad with seared tuna, or a mezze spread featuring baba ganoush, marinated artichokes, and flatbread. It also shines with a bit of heat — try it with peri-peri chicken, Sichuan-style tofu, or spicy tuna sushi. And if you're keeping it casual, a roast chicken sandwich with rocket and aioli on crusty sourdough will do the trick beautifully. This rosé is your go-to for lazy long lunches, seaside snacks, or that magical moment when the sun dips and dinner’s just getting started.

Wine region
Pyrenees, Australia
The Pyrenees wine region is located in the state of Victoria in Australia. It is known for producing a range of high-quality red and white wines, particularly Shiraz and Chardonnay. The region is named after the Pyrenees mountain range, which forms its eastern boundary. The wine-growing area extends from the town of Avoca in the north to Moonambel in the south and is situated at an altitude of between 200 and 600 meters above sea level. The region's cool climate and diverse soil types are well-suited to grape growing and contribute to the unique character of the wines produced here. Cool fact: the region is home to the "Big Red," a life-sized sculpture of a red grape that serves as a popular photo spot for visitors to the area, so if you find yourself in the area, be sure to check it out!
