Details
The more classical of the Solara sparkling wines to land at GPD, this bubbly is all about the citrussy crispness, with just a little stonefruity juiciness complemented with a little honey and grilled nuts. Light-bodied, refreshing, and energetic sparkling wine for any time of the day (or night).
Solara is the premium sparkling label of Duxton Vineyards, a company with a selection of giant vineyards based on the Murray River near Mildura. Historically, Duxton has been just about grapes, with giant vineyards supplying fruit for nearly every big wine company in Australia. But in the last few years, the Duxton team has started making more wines, cherrypicking the best fruit to be made under labels like our perennial fave Pete's Pure and now Solara. We don't like banging on about dollars at Good Pair Days, but the Solara fizz range is packed with value kings - they're so crisp and delicious AND for prices that always make us double-take. Life would be so much better if more things overdelivered like these super bubblies.

Pairing guide
It's seriously hard to go wrong when pairing this sparkling, as it will go with everything (or all on its lonesome). It's very much at home as a pre-dinner or arvo drink with a range of snacks and finger food, through to decadent dinners featuring fish, veggies, and white meats, all the way through to fruit-based desserts or salted caramel sweet treats! We love pairing this wine with deep-fried foods, too - there’s something about sparkling wine with fried chicken and French fries that we just can’t get enough of!

Wine region

Murray Darling, Australia
The Murray Darling wine region is one of the three that is the backbone of the Australian wine industry, alongside the Riverland and Riverina. The Murray Darling is situated along the Victorian and NSW border with Mildura being the centre. Whether it is grapes or oranges and other fruit, this is the place to find them. It's a hot and dry area with long, hot summers and cool winters, making it the perfect spot for growing grapes. Aside from the commercial wineries that source a large amount of fruit from this region, there is also a growing scene of alternative varietals thanks to wineries like Chalmers.
