Details
Classic Malbec, just ready and waiting for you to fire up the barbie! Loaded with plum, blueberry and blackcurrant, plush and soft, with a topnote of violet. This is a wine made without any oak, so the fruit can really shine. Juicy and yet with plenty of complexity and a harmonious finish.
Santuario is a relatively new operation, based of course in Mendoza - the home of Malbec in Argentina. They are a modern, forward-looking business, working sustainably and attempting to capture all that is great about their hallowed grape, and present it in an approachable way. The team works the grapes gently, with great respect, and the results are really something! They have vineyards in two subregions - Vistalba and Medrano - and blend these two sites for a balanced expression of the country's famous grape. The two sites have different soil structures and climate, leading to quite different expressions. The blend seeks to capture the best of both, whilst retaining a harmony and elegance to the wine. There's no oak used in the wines, which is unusual for this region! The wines therefore aren't the stereotypical oak-bombs, with bombastic fruit, but instead offer balance and elegance. Great stuff.

Pairing guide
Malbec is always a winner when dinner time rolls around, and this gorgeous bottle from Santuario is the perfect example - it’s a fantastic match for dishes of dark meat poultry, a grilled steak (especially fattier cuts like sirloin and ribeye), and game meats cooked with a fruity or peppery sauce. Malbec also loves smoked flavours, so be sure to look into recipes featuring smoky bacon and smoked vegan alternatives, as well as spices like smoked paprika.

Wine region

Mendoza, Argentina
Mendoza is Argentina's premier wine region which is located in the foothills of the Andes mountains. Mendoza is located 1000 km inland from Buenos Aires and is closer to Santiago, the capital of Chile. The region is famed for Malbec, which accounts for 20% of the variety planted in the country, yet also produces high quality Cabernet Sauvignon, Chardonnay and the native grape variety, Torrontés.
