Details
From a label named after Alex Russell & Lara Suitor's daughter Audrey, who likes to dance with the bull (aka her brother Angus). This sparkling wine is one of the first Tassie bubbles that has come out under the Russell & Suitor label, and it's wonderfully creamy Aussie sparkling, with this lovely contrast of tart lemony flavours and a whipped butter waxy edge. Lovely!
Alex Russell is an entrepreneurial winemaker who began his winemaking journey by crafting wines from Mildura and the Riverland, using a range of so-called 'alternative' grape varieties (mostly Mediterranean influenced) to create modern and approachable wines. Since then he has expanded south, to Tasmania, where he creates more classically styled wines from Pinot Noir, Riesling and Chardonnay. From Merlot to Montepulciano, the breadth is quite astounding! So where does the Suitor part come in? That's Alex's wife, Lara Suitor, who grew up in northern Tasmania and has spearheaded the brand's push to make more Tasmanian wines, including the range of Balla sparkling wines and Son of a Bull cool climate whites and reds (and they're delicious).

Pairing guide
Tasmanian sparkling like this is so enchanting on the dinner table, especially with something that has some layers of flavour complexity to it. We especially enjoyed this wine with heartier seafood dishes, such as scallops with black pudding, buttery lobster and spicy crab cakes, bream with sage butter and a classic dish of cod and chips. It will be fabulous with avocado salads and brunch dishes, sushi rolls, all kinds of fritters and savoury pastries, too!
