Details
All about the lightness and brightness. That's the vibe with this seamless Yarra Valley Pinot Noir from Rouleur, as Matt East drops another beautiful fresh wine. It's all about the brambly red raspberry and cherry fruit here, with just a little sappy herbal edges for crunch.
Matt East was born into wine. His father, an airline pilot, planted a vineyard on the family property at Coldstream in the Yarra Valley in 1984. Matt grew up working in the vineyard and making wine in his family's shed using an old basket press, which ultimately led to a career in wine sales and marketing. Life then delivered Matt's family a blow, as his dad was diagnosed with cancer and passed away within 12 short months. Before he died, he made Matt promise to make wine from the vineyard he planted. Matt left his wine job in McLaren Vale to start Rouleur Wines, crafting delicious Chardonnay and Pinot from his family's Yarra Valley plot, as well as Grenache & Shiraz from McLaren Vale, plus so much more. The name is a nod to Matt's love of cycling, with a rouleur typically a rider who can smash out hard kms on the flatlands - although the slightly built Matt is anything but a big boned man for the flats, and his wines are typically crisp and refined.

Pairing guide
Bright and vibrant Pinot Noir like this wine from Rouleur pairs well with dishes that lob up some contrasting flavours, with pork and duck dishes a natural go-to choice, thanks to the fatty edge. We also like to accentuate that slightly herbal edge by going for dishes that include spices like thyme or rosemary, making some classic rustic French chicken cassoulet or even potato-based vegetarian stews.
