Details
From a single vineyard high in the Adelaide Hills, this is a thoroughly modern expression - leads with ripe lemon and red apple, backed up nicely by toasted nuts and lemon cream. Some vanilla and more almond lurk underneath. There's oak in there, with whispers of cinnamon and toast, but the wine finishes fresh and with crunch.

The Rockbare winery goes back over 20 years, and is situated in the warm McLaren Vale, although sources fruit from around the state of South Australia. Working directly with family-owned vineyards and growers to produce award-winning wines, the team at Rockbare is dedicated to focussing on the classic regions of SA, and highlighting their best-known grapes. This results in a classic set of wines that really show off what South Australia has to offer. Being based in Clarendon in the McLaren Vale gives the winery access to plenty of high quality vineyards nearby, and these relationships have been important for the winery for many years. Recently the winery was acquired by two winemaking families, one based in Melbourne, the other in California. This has seen an increase in the range of the wines, with greater exposure as well. The quality is fantastic across the range and highlights the modern face of South Australia with fruit, texture and elegance as watchwords.

Pairing guide
This luscious Chardonnay is another great example of just how versatile this noble grape varietal can be. It’s absolutely fantastic for food pairing, and has the character and balanced acidity required to work well with a massive array of tasty ingredients. We reckon it’s best to stick to the classics with this gorgeous white wine: creamy chicken dishes bolstered with mushrooms or leeks, lightly grilled lobster or scallops drizzled with butter, vegetarian risottos, roast chicken thighs, and chilli-spiked tofu dishes are all going to be great. It’s also a good match for Indian curries like butter chicken or korma, too!

Wine region
Adelaide Hills, Australia
The Adelaide Hills wine region, located in South Australia's Mount Lofty Ranges of South Australia is characterised by its high altitude, cool climate, and diverse soils, which all contribute to the unique terroir that produces elegant, complex, and expressive wines. The region's altitude ranges from 400 to 700 meters above sea level, creating a cooler climate than other wine regions in South Australia. The cool temperatures slow down the ripening process of the grapes, resulting in wines with high acidity, delicate aromatics, and elegant flavours. Top sub-regions are Lenswood, Piccadilly Valley, and Basket Range, each with unique microclimates and diverse soil types that produce singular wine styles, the highlights are Sauvignon Blanc, Chardonnay, Pinot Noir, Shiraz and a whole lot more!
