Details
A modern Cab with a rebellious streak — think dark cassis, ripe blackberry, and a cool hit of mint, all wrapped up in silky tannins and a backbone of subtle oak. It’s rich and medium to full-bodied but avoids the old-school Cab trap of being too heavy or overbearing. Instead, it walks the line perfectly: bold, but approachable; structured, but juicy.

Risky Business is a collaboration between grape grower and viticulturist Rob Quenby and vintner John Waldron. Both with significant experience in the wine scene, they came together in 2013 to produce small batches of fine and distinctive wines from varied areas across Australia. The Western Australian grapes come from Rob’s vineyards, managed by his own viticultural company, whilst they also look to Victoria's King Valley for some fruit. They're not looking to reinvent the wheel, rather to source great fruit from established vineyards and fashion stylish and traditional wines that have a modern edge. They seek fullness of flavour and depth, with a mixture of varieties at play. This is something they're committed to attaining, and the resultant wines certainly show better for it. Whether it be their classic re-interpretation of the Aussie Cabernet Shiraz blend, or their juicy and vital Riesling, their selection of wines is a lovely introduction into the modern Australian wine scene.

Pairing guide
This Cab is bold, structured, and silky — the kind of wine that loves food with a bit of substance. Naturally, it’s a classic with grilled steak or roast lamb, especially with a rosemary and garlic crust. But it also plays surprisingly well with vegetarian dishes — think mushroom and lentil shepherd’s pie, eggplant parmigiana, or a black bean and chipotle chilli. Aged cheeses like cheddar or gouda? Absolutely. Rich sauces? Bring them on. Even a meat-lovers’ pizza or a loaded burger with caramelised onions would make this wine purr. If you're pulling out the slow cooker, a beef ragu over pappardelle is the dream pairing. Basically, it’s comfort food’s best companion — hearty, flavourful, and endlessly rewarding.
