Details
Made as a homage to the great Spanish red wines, this is Mark & Sam Renzaglia's classic organic Tempranillo Graciano blend. Savoury, a bit meaty, and darkly tannic with all sorts of spicy meaty edges, this is such an impressive red. Just when you think it's a bit too hearty, there's a delicious red fruit plumpness through the middle to make things more approachable. Clever!
For those who have spent a full weekend sitting on the couch with a few tinnies watching cars fly up and down hills with names like Skaife, Brock and Lowndes dominating Bathurst, it may be a surprise to you that on this same hallowed turf sits some incredibly good vines that produce equally incredible wine. Enter the Renzaglia family to the frame, where for years they have been plugging away quietly to produce some of the finest Chardonnay and Cabernet Sauvignon around. Mark and Sandy Renzaglia had their first start in the world of wine when in 1982, Mark’s parents planted vines in Illinois, USA which at the time was a dry zone, so you weren’t permitted to make alcohol. Luckily, Sandy, being an Aussie, and Mark set up in Australia and planted their first vines in 1997 outside of Bathurst. Today their son, Sam, has brought in some flair with a new range called ‘di Renzo’ to sit alongside the classic ‘Bella Luna’ series. The Renzaglia family also pay respects to traditional land owners and to the land itself with their vineyard management.

Pairing guide
Tempranillo and Graciano grapes are the kings of the Spanish red wine scene, and the family behind Renzaglia wines are proving that Aussie iterations of these timeless varietals have what it takes to hit all the right notes. It’s a great food pairing wine, and will work especially well with the smoky, spicy flavour of Tex-Mex and Mexican dishes like fajitas, chilli con carne and mole sauces. Goulash stews, Moroccan tagines and merguez sausages, meaty paella and all kinds of mushroom and cheese combos will also work wonders with this superb bottle.
