Details
This is a shimmering blend of Chenin Blanc (which sees about six hours skin contact), Grenache Blanc and Sauvignon Blanc, both of which were fermented in oak. This wine is singing right now with stone fruit notes of peach and apricot and a subtle melon character. There is a slight kerosene complexity to the wine. This is pretty classy stuff, with a nice, leesy texture, slightly honeyed on the palate with a zippy finish.
Ross Sleet is the brains behind Rascallion wines in South Africa. After forging quite the career in the UK's wine trade, working for the formidable Matthew Clark (wholesaler) and other big name wine giants. Ross has headed up some pretty mammoth projects over the years, with such a wealth of experience, he has a knack for creating wines that people want to drink. In 2018 he was bored of the corporate wine life, and decided to that he wanted to start producing wine with a strong focus on blended styles. Ross looks for three things more than anything in his wines; fruit, freshness and aromatics. If you are reading this, then you don't need to look far to find these in his juice. The Rascallion range is a fantastic embodiment of purity and freshness. This is honest winemaking, with some pretty awesome labels and an ethos that puts the wine drinker (you and me) front and centre. His 'With Love from the Cape' range of wines are of particular importance to us at Good Pair Days, as a percentage of Ross' profits are given to a charity that provides health and education to young women in the local community, and those who need it most.

Pairing guide
Rascallion has struck gold again with this beautiful Chenin Blanc, which is about as food friendly as a South African white wine has ever been. With its delicious balance and brightness, it’s an ideal pairing with seafood - scallops, lobster, Moreton Bay bugs and crab, especially. We especially loved it with whole roast cauliflower and pureed celeriac, and it’s well-suited for pairing with sweet and sour dishes, Thai coconut and coriander curries and roast chicken dinners… with all the trimmings, of course.
