Details
A really complex nose is the introduction to this Pinot Grigio - notes of tonic water, green almond, green apple, white pear and lemon balm. Lots of fruit but really backed up by some herbal notes of hay and grassiness. Very light and delicate. There is a good degree of depth on the middle palate, but overall is a very fine, softly textured and elegant. A quiet wine almost - doesn't scream and shout, impresses with softness and finesse.

The vintners behind Victoria’s Range Life proudly claim that their wines are ‘hard to pronounce, but easy to drink’. Indeed, there is a decidedly Italian theme running through this winery, with Prosecco, Garganega and Sangiovese wines spearheading the operation, and proving that this part of Australia really might be one of the most flexible and varied wine regions in the country. With their bold, funky retro label designs, and bright, sunny flavours, Range Life have cornered the market when it comes to seeking out something authentic, cool and more than a little different on the Aussie wine scene. While traditional Italian grape varietals are used to great effect at Range Life, the methods the winemakers use range between the traditional and the modern, cherry-picking the best of both worlds to produce wines which are worthy of their labels. Low yields and minimal intervention ensures that quality and expression is high, and the stunning terroir the vines grow on allows these grapes to take on some of the more distinctive characteristics of Victoria, meaning these aren’t just carbon copies of Italian classics. Pairing guide
If you’re looking for a fantastically versatile white wine for your Christmas dinners, then this Pinot Grigio from Range Life fits the bill very nicely indeed. This wine is going to pair beautifully with the more decadent side of your fish and shellfish menu - we love sipping this fresh and crisp white alongside grilled halibut, barramundi, or monkfish, and it also goes gorgeously well with scallops, too. Even if you’re not having seafood this year, or want to save this bottle for another occasion, it’s also a delight when served with creamy pasta dishes, especially those which use smoked salmon or chicken.
