Get ready to sip and savour some seriously delicious wine from Quinta Da Lixa! The Meireles family have been producing top-notch Vinho Verde (green wine) in the sub-region of Minho, Northern Portugal since 1986 - where the grapes are green and wines are pretty. The focus has always been to produce the best possible vinho verde. if you didn’t know already, Vinho Verde wines are a touch fizzy, mostly dry, and have green fruit notes hence the name. Traditionally Vinho Verde is made Alvarinho aka. Albariño, Azal, Loureiro and Trajadura. But over the years, in a successful bid to elevate their label the range has expanded to include premium single varietal wines our favourite being Alvarinho aka. Albariño. So grab a glass (or a bottle, no judgement) and get ready to discover your new favourite wine!

Pairing guide
We’re huge Alvarinho fans here at Good Pair Days - there’s something about this brisk and easy-drinking white wine that’s just ideal for al fresco dining. The obvious pairings are all fish-based: this is a wine to pair with a heaving plate of fish ‘n’ chips, elegant white fish fillets in herb butter sauce, and grilled snapper or barramundi with a fresh salad. Seafood - every type of seafood - will also work brilliantly, and it loves being paired with Asian vegetarian dishes, spicy noodles, chilled soups and cucumber salads.

Wine region
Vinho Verde, Portugal
Vinho Verde is a wine region located in the Minho province of Portugal, known for producing light and refreshing wines that are perfect for warm weather. The region's name, which means "green wine," refers to the young age of the wines, which are typically consumed within a year of their production. The wines are typically made from indigenous grape varieties, such as Alvarinho and Loureiro, and are characterised by their low alcohol content, high acidity, and slight effervescence. There is a fascinating tradition of having the vines climb up high so you can pick the grapes while standing however this has mostly faded out now.
