Details
This ravishing Kiwi rosé is made from Waipara Pinot Noir grapes. The real magic happens in the winery, with this pale pink wine matured without additions in old barrels and these unique concrete tanks called 'tulipes'. It’s a beautiful and generous rosé with lilted flavours of summer peach and wild strawberries, a lovely, plush mouthfeel and a juicy, mouth-watering finish.

Pyramid Valley is a special site in the North Canterbury region on the south island of New Zealand. Planted in 2000 by Claudia and Mike Weersing, it became a touchstone for biodynamic viticulture and sensitive winemaking in New Zealand. The home vineyards consisted of four blocks that formed the heart of the wine production, supplemented by organic and biodynamic vineyards from around the country. Each wine here is unique and bears the stamp of delicacy, power and complexity. German-born and America-raised Claudia is a committed biodynamicist and the guiding spirit in the early years of Pyramid Valley. Mike studied oenology and viticulture in Burgundy and worked in vineyards and cellars across Europe, honing his precise vision and practice for spectacular winemaking. While Mike & Claudia have now passed over the ownership of Pyramid Valley, none other than Steve Smith MW & Brian Sheth (a bit of a Kiwi wine power team) have now picked up the reins and are delivering the same magic that first made Pyramid Valley such an NZ icon.

Pairing guide
A deliciously complex rosé wine from the team at Pyramid Valley, this bottle is sure to delight the senses with its multilayered flavours and endless charm. As for food pairing, this rosé is going to match up best with robust and creamy pork dishes - your festive glazed ham will work a treat, as will braised pork or casseroles, or a simple dish of sausages with mash. Salmon, especially roast salmon with Mediterranean vegetables, is always a good move, and it will also work very well with tomato and beef ragu and family favourites like lasagna and pizza.

Wine region
North Canterbury, New Zealand
The North Canterbury wine region is located on South Island’s east coastline, spanning 200km with panoramic view of Alps to the west and the endless Pacific Ocean to the east. Long, cool and dry growing seasons are of major benefit to the local vines. This region produces superbly aromatic Riesling, Sauvignon Blanc, Pinot Noir and fine Chardonnay. Notable sub-regions are Waipara Valley (one hour’s drive north of Christchurch) and Canterbury Plains (Southwest outskirts of Christchurch). Both regions feature gravel and alluvial deposits, and free draining clay and limestone soils.
