Details
A piercing wine with huge amounts of character. It starts with vibrant aromatics of lemon and lime blossom, with hints of crushed rock and lemon sorbet. The palate is really zippy, with plenty of acid to back up the citrus fruit. It's generous and shows great persistence - a long and structured finish that echoes that lemon and grapefruit character.
Wineries like Plan B really say a lot about the Australian wine scene in the 21st century. On the one hand, there’s a dedication to excellence and flavour, and a will to constantly push the bar higher and higher when it comes to quality. On the other hand, there’s a sort of rock ‘n’ roll sensibility at work, a vibrant punk spirit of homegrown talent, of following your instincts and subverting expectations… all of which results in some seriously great wine, packing plenty of surprises and eyebrow-raising features. Set up in 2006 by wine and music obsessive Bill Crappsley, Plan B was always intended to be a ‘free range’ winery; free not only from too much messing about and chemical intervention but also free from what they describe as ‘corporate taint’. This is wine that’s set for the world stage, but which hasn’t had its edges sanded down and its image compromised by profit-hunting big businesses - it’s wine which celebrates freedom, expression and its unique character taken from the stunning Western Australian terroir around Frankland River. Unique vineyards and interesting blends - it's all here.

Pairing guide
This dry Riesling from Plan B! couldn’t be more suited to food pairing if it tried! Beautifully balanced and with a crisp, mineral dryness, it’s an absolute joy to pair with a massive array of favourite dishes. You will find great results with white fish, shellfish (especially oysters), chicken and veal dishes, and breaded cutlets. However, we always reckon dry Riesling works best when paired with hot chilli dishes, so look to Asian curries, Thai specialities, and anything featuring a generous serving of hot sauce. Yum!

Frankland River is one of five sub-regions in Great Southern, Western Australia. The Great Southern as the name suggests is extremely large, spread out over 100 km north to south and 150 km east to west. Frankland River is located in the north-west part of Great Southern and is known for high quality Shiraz, Cabernet Sauvignon and Riesling as well as recent movement towards Grenache, Tempranillo and other Mediterranean varieties. The region is relatively recent with plantings dating back to 1967 and by the 1980s wineries like Alkoomi and Frankland Estate were well established.
