Details
The ‘Les Douces Collines’ or the sweet hills, is sourced from the appellation of Saint Nicolas-de-Bourgueil, which is known for meaty style of Cabernet Franc. This is no exception with a bright start, smoky nose which leans into some leafy tones followed by raspberry and blackberry fruit drive..

The Loire Valley is a grand region that traverses central France where you will find the perfect mix of history, gastronomic delights and a nice smattering of castles. The region expands from the coastal city of Nantes where you could consume one of the best pairings in the world, oysters with muscadet, to the historically important city of Orléans, and by historic, we are talking Joan of Arc levels! François- Xavier Barc and Gérald Vallée started Complices de Loire in 2010, after both having a strong background of winemaking in the Loire Valley. The winery sources fruit from across the Loire and produces a range of classic wines from Sauvignon Blanc and Chenin Blanc to Cabernet Franc and Gamay. The winery has two different vineyards, after acquiring Domaine à Deux in 2015, which has helped grow the range of wines. There is a beauty to the range, with modern wine labels and well constructed wines that showcase the versatility of the Loire Valley.

Pairing guide
Cabernet Franc - such as this delicious number from Picasso - built its towering reputation on many different factors, but top of the list was always its food-friendliness. It’s a proper French bistro wine, which should give plenty of indication as to the kind of dishes and ingredients it best pairs with. Duck and sausage is always a safe bet, especially when cooked together in a stew with some white beans and plenty of herbs, cassoulet-style. Steak and chips, too, is an obvious choice, as is slow-roasted salmon, ratatouille, and other European-style combos of meat, veggies, and a savoury sauce. We also love this wine with classics like quiche lorraine, schnitzel, and leafy greens like spinach and kale.
