Details
Verdejo has snuck its way into the Australian vocab after being planted across the Hunter Valley and South Australia in the 1960s. This Verdejo from Toro in Spain is a classic, with zesty lemon and grapefruit notes, almond and lemon blossom, and a touch of honeyed pear. The wine is focused and vibrant with plenty of energy and is perfect for any occasion.

Bodegas Riojanas is one of Rioja’s great heritage wineries, proudly crafting wines that capture the soul of this iconic Spanish region. Founded in 1890 in the historic town of Cenicero, the estate has spent more than a century perfecting the art of Rioja winemaking—balancing tradition, patience, and a deep respect for place. While the company has roots in Rioja, it has expanded to include estates in Rueda, Rias Baixas, Ribera de Duero and Toro, as well as dipping its toes in the waters of Bierzo, Cava and the wonderful world of Vermouth. There is a lovely mix of tradition and creativity in the wines, with Rioja showcasing the traditional side and Toro showcasing the playful nature of the various brands. We are excited to bring our customers these wines to showcase not just classical Tempranillo, but also forgotten Verdejo and Spanish rosé that really packs a punch.

Pairing guide
Crisp, aromatic, and refreshingly vibrant, Peñamonte Verdejo offers bright citrus, green apple, and subtle herbal notes with a clean, zesty finish. It’s a perfect partner for seafood—think grilled prawns, calamari, or white fish with lemon and olive oil. The wine’s lively acidity also works beautifully with goat cheese salads, vegetable paella, or sushi. For something relaxed, try it with tapas like marinated anchovies, olives, or garlic prawns. A fresh, versatile white that shines with light, Mediterranean-inspired dishes and sunny afternoons.
