Details
Tinto de Toro is the local jargon for Tempranillo from this up-and-coming region. This barnstorming Tempranillo is big and robust with dark cherries and plums, along with dried herbs and chewy tannins.

Bodegas Riojanas is one of Rioja’s great heritage wineries, proudly crafting wines that capture the soul of this iconic Spanish region. Founded in 1890 in the historic town of Cenicero, the estate has spent more than a century perfecting the art of Rioja winemaking—balancing tradition, patience, and a deep respect for place. While the company has roots in Rioja, it has expanded to include estates in Rueda, Rias Baixas, Ribera de Duero and Toro, as well as dipping its toes in the waters of Bierzo, Cava and the wonderful world of Vermouth. There is a lovely mix of tradition and creativity in the wines, with Rioja showcasing the traditional side and Toro showcasing the playful nature of the various brands. We are excited to bring our customers these wines to showcase not just classical Tempranillo, but also forgotten Verdejo and Spanish rosé that really packs a punch.

Pairing guide
Bold, vibrant, and full of dark fruit intensity, Peñamonte Joven showcases ripe blackberry, plum, and a touch of spice with youthful power and firm structure. It’s a natural match for grilled meats—think ribeye steak, lamb chops, or smoky BBQ ribs. The wine’s depth also pairs beautifully with slow-cooked beef stews, chorizo, or roast pork with crackling. For something rustic, try it with Spanish-style tapas, aged manchego, or a hearty bean casserole. A robust, flavour-packed red that thrives alongside bold, savoury dishes and lively gatherings.
