Details
Mount Barker in the Great Southern region is up there with the best of Australia’s Riesling-producing regions, and this wine is a glorious example of why. It’s steely and mineral with candied citrus and makrut lime leaf aromas - gorgeously supple, with a freshness that sings in the glass, and a lovely palate weight that finishes long. Wonderful.
Paul Nelson Wines is a small, family-owned wine producer in Denmark, in the Great Southern wine region located right at the bottom of Western Australia. Using minimal intervention techniques, Paul and wife Bianca produce small batch, quality-focused wines from grapes sourced from their two-hectare vineyard, the oldest producing vineyard in Denmark, as well as from further afield in the Great Southern region. Paul has extensive experience working around the wine world, with time spent in the beautiful regions of Priocca and Abruzzo in Italy, Rheingau in Germany, Santa Ynez in California, Rawsonville in South Africa, Paphos in Cyprus and even Narayangon in India! Here he drank amazing wines and met people who live and breathe it, to then imbue his own wines with excitement and complexity. The PN wines deliver immediate enjoyment; not too overly complicated, they should be enjoyed with friends, with food, or just at the end of a long day. Each wine is curated to showcase varietal and regional expression whilst still being fun and super-drinkable. Here’s cheers to that!
