Details
From Nebbiolo grapes cultivated in vineyards in the Ornati and Mosconi hamlets in Monforte d’Alba, one of the top sites in Piedmont’s Langhe region, this is a superlative wine from the motherland. A pale colour, as Nebbiolo tends to be, the wine is ripe and plush, with aromas of classic ‘tar and roses’ and liquorice, and has a creamy palate, finishing with savoury acidity and fine creeping tannins. Wonderful.
The Parusso family story is one of dedication, passion, and a constant desire to improve through experimentation. Their devotion to their craft drives them to rediscover knowledge, traditions, and the ancient vineyard arts of their ancestors. The story of this prestigious producer started in 1901, when Gaspare Parusso purchased the first plot in Mariondino located in Castiglione Falleto, in the Langhe region of Piedmont. In 1925, the family acquired the ‘Rovella’ farmhouse up above the Rocche vineyard, and then in 1971, Gaspare's son Armando began to make wine under the Parusso label. When his son Marco finished winemaking school in 1986, he joined Armando in the business, with Tiziana, Marco’s sister joining in 1990. The history of the Parusso family has evolved over 120 years, from a family of farmers to one of vintners. Parusso wines continue to garner international acclaim while remaining true to tradition, family values, and respect for the land that has been in their family for over 100 years.

Pairing guide
Nebbiolo has long been regarded as the king of the Italian red varieties, and this stunner from Parusso does nothing to dispute that glittering crown! It’s fabulous with hearty homemade stews and braises, especially those featuring juicy cuts of duck, beef or lamb. Italian-style bean casseroles will be brilliant here, as will roast root vegetables, eggplant and zucchini. It’s got an affinity for Chinese 5-spice - something to keep in mind when roasting meats to pair with this wine - and will also be spectacular with game and offal dishes.
