Details
The beautiful Clare Valley is where the grapes for this intensely citrussy Riesling comes from, with grapes coming off a block at the southern end of the Valley. It really is such a crisp and pristine wine with super tangy lemon and lime flavours and an extra-long lingering finish.

In the winter of 2013, winemaker and Master of Wine Giles Cooke's father became ill. A non-smoker all his life, Giles' father was diagnosed with lung cancer, which had metastasised to the brain. Sadly, he died just 50 days later at the age of 74. Then, in 2014, Giles' mother tragically took her own life. Finally, Giles himself had a heart attack, completely out of the blue, in 2015. As part of his recovery journey from what was a horrid few years, Giles was inspired to help those less fortunate and started the Our Fathers label, with all profits from the sale of wines donated to charitable causes. For the Our Fathers wines, Giles (who is probably more famous for his epic Thistledown wines) taps into a network of top Barossan, Adelaide Hills, Clare Valley and McLaren Vale growers for high-quality fruit to then craft into charismatic wines with real charisma and authenticity, just like Giles himself.

Pairing guide
It's not hard to appreciate the citrussy intensity of this white wine, where the style really channels the food pairing choices down a few well-travelled roads. It’s particularly well-suited to spicy seafood dishes, such as crab and lobster, as well as creamy chicken and pork pasta creations, and savoury pastries and pies. Spicy Thai green curries and Indian dishes like pasanda will also work very well, especially if made with juicy king prawns or chunky white fish. Indeed, this could be one of the finest fish wines around, with the tangy citrus and first hints of toast giving layer after layer that makes it perfect to contrast your favourite fish dish.
