Details
A plush Pinot Noir, with all the classic hallmarks of the grape - bright red fruit, soft tannins and a lovely floral lift. A gentle wine, it nonetheless packs in a punch of raspberry, cherry and plum, backed by a lick of salty liquorice and some pretty violet and rose aromatics. Juicy acidity and a long soft finish show its elegance. Lovely.

'Off The Books' shouldn't happen... but almost every year it does. Vintage is a time of year where parcels of fruit unexpectedly become available to winemaker Nicholas Crampton, with some parcels so good, that he just can't say no to! This particular year, 2021, a few special ferments demanded individual attention, and subsequently found no need for the addition of a preservative! When the love of making great wine overrides rational planning, the team keeps these certain wines separate and certainly don't 'blend away'. But, what do you do with these wines? Well, that's where we find 'Off The Books'. These are preservative-free gems brought to life! The Pinot Noir is a real winner from a small parcel of fruit that was simply too good to - all the more for us!

Pairing guide
Ah, Pinot Noir. Where would we be without you when it comes to food pairing perfection at mealtimes? This stunning red from Off The Books is an absolute dream alongside fatty fish dishes of tuna and salmon, pan-roasted duck, a classic cassoulet, or a sausage hotpot. It’s about as versatile as they come, however, and will also pair nicely with tomato-based pasta dishes, herbed cheeses, butterflied lamb, turkey curries, and much, much more besides!

Wine region
Riverland, Australia
Located in the heart of South Australia, the Riverland wine region is a tropical paradise for wine lovers. The region was formerly known for its traditional wines, particularly Shiraz, Chardonnay, and Grenache as well as its abundance of sunshine and beautiful scenery. In the last few years it's added a raft of Mediterranean varieties to its charm - think Fiano and Nero d'Avola. The warm climate and fertile soils of the Riverland make it a perfect place for grape growing, and the wines produced there are bursting with flavour. So why not explore the wines of the Riverland and discover a new favourite?
