Details
When the weather is approaching the need to whip out the sunscreen and lather it on, you start to think about putting the red wine cue back in the rack. Well, with this summer red from Norfolk Rise, you can keep that cue out all year round. This is made from Cabernet Sauvignon, yet not your old stuffy examples but bright and crunchy with a heap of raspberries and strawberries and plenty of energy.
Norfolk Rise is located in the stunning region of Mount Benson, which is part of the group of regions that make up the abundant Limestone Coast. The name is fitting because here you will find plenty of limestone and lots of coast to go surfing, fishing or just laying on the sand with a glass of wine in hand. The winery itself has been a staple figure to the landscape since 1999 and recently, the new owners have taken Norfolk Rise to the next level. The winery has a sustainable focus at the heart of what they do with the use of local sheep for grazing in their vineyards as well as reducing their reliance on herbicides and pesticides. There are two key ranges, the Estate and Maritime ranges which both feature all your classic varieties for sitting on the beach with Pinot Grigio, Chardonnay and Sauvignon Blanc all ticked off and for when you move indoors when the sun goes down there are some classic red wines that will help keep the good times rolling.

Pairing guide
Big, bold and beautiful, this gorgeous Cabernet Sauvignon from Norfolk Rise is a real treat for the senses. All those deep and punchy flavours call for dishes that dial up the taste sensations - it’s especially good with game meats, roast beef, steaks with punchy sauces and anything featuring mature cheddar cheese and truffle. Garlic vegetables, bitter greens like kale and cavolo nero, wild mushrooms and roast eggplant are excellent vegetarian options, too.

Mount Benson, Australia
Mount Benson is a wine region located in the Limestone Coast in South Australia, known for producing cool climate white and red wines. The region received the effects of the Bonney Upwelling which is a current that cools the water off the coast of Mount Benson, somewhat reducing the effects of global warming in the region. There are some high quality wineries like Norfolk Rise and Cape Jaffa highlight the region's best varieties.
