Details
Norfolk Rise has an abundance of ocean at their disposal to work its wonders on the vines. In this instance, we have a crunchy pinot gris with plenty of saline, pear and apple at play. The apple takes a twist with some lovely apple blossom tones and a touch of honeysuckle. This is one impressive Pinot Gris!

Origin: Burgundy, in eastern France. Mainly Grown In: Italy (as Pinot Grigio), Germany (as Grauburgunder - the local name for Pinot Gris), USA, France (as Pinot Gris). Key Facts: Drum roll please... Pinot Gris and Pinot Grigio are two different names for THE SAME GRAPE VARIETY. The use of Gris or Grigio depends on which country the grape was grown in and subtle stylistic differences. Pinot Grigio is the Italian version, and is typically known for being light and zesty. Where as Pinot Gris, the French version of the grape, is often richer and riper tasting with some spiciness. When made outside of Italy and France, Grigio or Gris name is used as a marker to define the style that the winemaker thinks it suits best; lean like Italian Pinot Grigio or riper and rounder like the French Pinot Gris. Fun Fact: Pinot Grigio is not made from white grapes. Yep, you read that right. Depending on the region where the grapes come from, the colour can range from blueish grey to dark red.

Pairing guide
Norfolk Rise winery never disappoints with its characterful Pinot Gris releases, and this beautiful bottle is a fantastic testament to what they do best. It’s a brilliantly versatile wine for pairing with food, too - while it’s great with all the classic Pinot Gris pairings of poached salmon, chicken salads and moules mariniere, it’s also an excellent wine to crack open alongside a spicy Thai curry or Indian dishes like butter chicken, rogan josh or biryani. Simple salads, roast chicken and pork tenderloin creations will also provide highly satisfying results.
