Details
This wine comes from 2 separate vineyards that happen to be in the same “neck of the woods.” The resultant wine is layered, complex and has great ageing potential and endless. This dual vineyard blend has captured the essence of the season and the complimentary character of two sites planted to Pinot Gris. There's poached pear, lychee, mandarin zest and vanilla bean on the nose, with more citrus notes to follow on the palate. Lucious and yet refined stone fruit leads to an incredibly textured mid-palate and finishes long and fresh.

Neck of the Woods is relatively recent addition to the wine scene in NZ, but they are already making waves with their uncompromising approach. Their goal is to make authentic wines that harness the weird and wild of Central Otago, staying true to the land with minimal intervention winemaking. The results of this mission are crafting small batch fine wines including Pinot Noir, Chardonnay, Pinot Gris and an Orange wine that show off the unique and wondrous wine region that is Central. Being the most southerly and one of the coldest wine regions in the world, Central Otago produces some unique and stunning wines, and Neck of the Woods are proud and happy to follow in these footsteps. But that's about all they are following - they want to forge their own path. They are led by Jen Parr, winemaker and all-round boss lady, originally from Oregon USA. She's been in Central Otago since 2007 and she became a NZ citizen in 2013 - Central is now her home! She has extensive international winemaking experience including South Africa and Australia in addition to 17 harvests in NZ. Her wines are special, from a special place.

Pairing guide
Beautiful, delicate, and yet hugely flavourful, this stunning wine from Neck of the Woods is going to be a surefire winner alongside a wide range of different foods. We especially love sipping this wine with a big steaming bowl of pad Thai, or southeast Asian fish dishes, and it’s also a great pairing for creamy chicken pasta dishes, risotto, and stuffed vegetables like eggplant or bell pepper.

Wine region
Central Otago, New Zealand
New Zealand's Central Otago region is a cool climate haven on the country's South Island which, over the years has become something of a Mecca for one of the most complex, beguiling red grapes in the world: Pinot Noir. Home to some of the most southerly vineyards in the world, Central Otago's wines have gained cult status of late, often being compared as one of (if not) the best producers of Pinot Noir outside of its spiritual home of Burgundy in France. The region, with its dramatic scenery, is complete with vineyards planted on mountain slopes in some of the most stunning wine-growing areas in the wine world. But it's not just Pinot Noir that gets all of the attention. High-quality Riesling is also made in Central Otago by a handful of the region's family-owned, small, boutique producers.
