Details
This delicious, juicy yet supremely complex Chardonnay smells like buttercups, ripe nectarine, and citrus. With a bold but zesty texture, this is bursting with flavours of stonefruit, rockmelon, and orange, all tied together by a subtle hint of smokiness. The finish is bright and tangy, with a lingering taste pithiness. There's so much going on here!
Domaine Theulot Juillot can claim a history that dates back to the early 1900s when Marguerite and Emile Juillot arrived in Mercurey, in the less fashionable southern Côte Chalonnaise end of Burgundy. Over the years since, while the Côte Chalonnaise has remained less cool, Theulot Juillot's star has continued to rise, especially after Nathalie and Jean-Claude Theulot took over in 1987. Where the Nathalie Theulot label diverges is that instead of just using grapes from the family estate, these wines include grapes from friendly local growers. The label has been a godsend after a succession of hail and frost-smashed years have decimated their crops, allowing the Theulots to deliver expressions of classic Chardonnay and Pinot Noir that rise far above the rest.

Pairing guide
It was love at first sip with this wonderful Chardonnay from Nathalie Theulot and we deeply enjoyed seeking out the perfect food pairings to match with this delicious white wine. It’s clear that this bottle will love being paired with robust and decadent shellfish dishes - seared scallops with black pudding, lobster thermidor or Thai crab cakes, especially - but will be every bit as good with a creamy chicken or pork pasta creation, salmon poke bowl, mac ‘n’ cheese or homemade chicken and leek pie. Wonderful.

Wine region

Burgundy, France
Burgundy is located east between Paris and the Swiss border and is known for producing some of the finest and most sought-after wines (Chardonnay and Pinot Noir) in the world. The region can be divided into the following sub-regions from north to south: Chablis, Côte d'Or, Côte Chalonnaise, and Mâconnais, with parts Beaujolais to the south now under consideration.
Chablis is located north of the Côte d'Or and is known for its crisp, dry white wines made from Chardonnay, made without the influence of oak. Some of the best domaines in Chablis include William Fèvre and Christian Moreau.
The Côte d'Or is the heart of the Burgundy wine region and is divided into two main areas: the Côte de Nuits and the Côte de Beaune. The Côte de Nuits is known for its red wines, while the Côte de Beaune is known for its white wines. The best domaines in the Côte d'Or include Domaine de la Romanée-Conti and Domaine Georges Roumier!
Mâconnais and often overlooked Côte Chalonnaise produces red and white wines. Some of the best domaines in these regions include Domaine Bouchard Père et Fils and Domaine Jean-Jacques Girard.
